strikeout.nu Vijayawada is a city in the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region, on the banks of River Krishna in Krishna district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, 18.5 km (11.5 mi) away from the state capital Amaravati.[5][6][7] Vijayawada is the second most populous city of the state with a population of 1,034,358 (census 2011).[8][9] The projected population of the city is 2.5 million by 2025.[10] As per the Demographia World Urban Areas: 2016, the city is the third most densely populated, in urban population of built-up areas in the world.[11] Vijayawada is classified as a Y-grade city as per the Sixth Central Pay Commission.[12] Vijayawada is the commercial headquarters of Andhra Pradesh. It was recognised as a "Global City of the Future" by McKinsey Quarterly, which had expected to increase to GDP of $17 billion by 2025.[10][13]
